Heavy Advertising
All I see at the moment on TV here is advertising for a heap of different insurance products. It seems like the insurance industry really wants more people to get life insurance or income protection insurance. Seeing so many ads is actually making me want to not do it.

I love architecture, and saving the environment is fairly high up on my list of things to do too. These 20 homes are, for me, aspirational - the kind of home we all dream to live in.

Are We Nearing Peak Silver?
There’s an interesting post on Money Choices, the Australian home loan comparison service, about the production of silver around the world. What’s interesting is the price of silver really took off around about 2004. So while everyone talks about peak gold and peak oil, have we missed the rise of silver? How high will the price go? Who knows, but to my eyes it looks like it’s...

What If Apple's Tablet Doesn't Exist?
After reading AppleInsider’s latest rumour, I wondered whether it’s possible that the tablet doesn’t actually exist? It certainly wouldn’t be the first time Apple have come close to releasing a product only for Steve to nuke it at the last minute. I hate to say it, but this could happen again all too easily.

Credit Cards: Not Always Your Best Friend
When you’re going on a trip, everyone will tell you to always take your credit card. And I would have agreed with that, until I read this article about the culture of credit cards around the globe. Who knew that in Japan (where there’s a gadget for everything) that hardly anyone pays for goods with plastic and that there are very few ATMs and merchants who take anything but cash!

Listening to Peter Schiff Weekly Broadcast
Just started listening to Peter Schiff’s weekly broadcast. He’s the investor who foresaw the GFC coming way back in 2006 - 2007. Watch him on Fox News et al as he was laughed at and mocked for his spot on financial foresight.

TRouBLe Remembering CSS Orders?
CSS is far from new, but that still doesn’t mean it’s any less confusing to use unless, of course, you are writing it every day. If you do struggle with the CSS shorthand order, like what to change to increase the padding to the top of an image, then remember this: TRouBLe, or Top Right Bottom Left. Thanks Char!

Hummer H3 Is An Unlikey Green Vehicle
Toyota’s Prius has been lighting the way to greener personal transport, but who’d have thought Hummer would step up to the plate! Their new H3 gets an amazing 100 MPG thanks to it’s electric engine, which is apparently enough to trump the mightly Prius. It even looks like a proper Hummer.

Gold & The Many Ways It Can Be Eaten
The value of gold has gone through the roof as the worldwide economy has gone through the floor. But that’s not to say you’ll only find gold reserves safely stored away in a locked safe. Au contraire! For there are people who actually eat gold in everything from schnapps to champagne and cake. I think I’d rather keep mine for a rainy day. ;)

They now have a short list of hopeful video applicants all seeking to get the job of Island Caretaker of a Great Barrier Reef tropical island. At the number spot on votes is Julia from Russia, who is entertaining to say the least.

Australia's Wine Industry In Steep Contraction
It seems like there is literally no industry not affected by this downturn. Although not yet officially in recession, the Australian wine industry saw an 18% drop in exports last year as the UK and US market dried up while demand from China failed to materialise.

Buying a Sweet Pad Down Under
Looks like the Australian house prices fell again for a third quarter in the three months through December as the threat of the nation’s first recession since 1991 eroded demand for property. And by the looks of it there are plenty of really nice, average-priced houses across Australia which are up for sale…. if you’ve got the money.

Australia's Housing Unaffordability
There has plenty of chatter about Demographia’s housing study which came out a few days ago. It turns out that Australia has three of the most “severely unaffordable housing markets”. What this means is that the housing bubble in Oz is yet to burst - which is great for first timers.
